About this course

The course examines art from the 14th century to the late 20th century, considering how artists, movements and societies shaped one another. Participants analyse selected artworks, explore artistic techniques and discuss the ways art is collected, exhibited and preserved. Teaching uses visual material, facilitated group dialogue, table discussions and reflection rather than relying solely on formal lectures. Museum and gallery visits may provide opportunities to encounter artworks directly, followed by guided discussion. The course covers a range of artistic disciplines and encourages learners to contribute interpretations, questions and opinions.
