About this course

The course examines how to prepare an effective cover letter, including what to include, how to create a reusable template and how to express motivation for a particular role. Participants practise writing sections of a letter and applying these techniques to a suitable job description. Teaching combines small- and large-group discussions, individual reflection, writing exercises, peer review and feedback from the facilitator. The session also includes self-assessment at the beginning and end, with the option of a follow-up one-to-one appointment with the Information, Advice and Guidance team.
