HTML5 & CSS: introduction (stage 1)

About this course

Participants learn how HTML structures web pages and how CSS controls their appearance. Topics include headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, attributes, images, page links, error checking, colour, typography, backgrounds and spacing. The course also introduces mobile-first layouts using div elements, basic SEO, website planning, and publishing and hosting. Teaching combines tutor demonstrations with practical coding tasks in the Notepad++ editor, supported by questions and feedback. Learners work towards creating, linking, editing and validating a simple website.
