Imagination in art: pushing creative practice into new territories

About this course

The course explores ways of developing artwork from imagination, memory and ideas rather than observation alone. Learners respond to creative prompts and guided exercises, experimenting with abstract mark-making, composition, collage, assemblage and work in both two and three dimensions. Teaching combines presentations, demonstrations, practical studio activities, individual guidance, group discussion and peer feedback. Learners reflect on their work during sessions and have time towards the end to develop a personal project. The course uses informal assessment and feedback based on practical work and individual learning goals.
