Inspired by Persian Miniatures: Beasts, Birds, & Fantastic Creatures

About this course

The course examines the symbolism and visual language of animals in Persian miniature painting, including simurghs, lions, leopards, fish and fantastical creatures. Participants consider how these figures have represented ideas such as power, wisdom, protection and transformation across Persian artistic traditions. Each participant selects one creature for closer study, develops an original composition and paints it using traditional Persian miniature techniques. The process includes close observation, drawing and detailed painting.
