About this course

Lessons use role-play, group discussion, conversations and video-based activities to practise communicating in Italian. Topics include Italian culture, art, cuisine and places of interest, with opportunities to discuss general-interest subjects and express opinions. Learners read texts from different sources, build vocabulary, work on pronunciation and develop their understanding of spoken Italian. The course also revisits grammar, including past and conditional forms, with handouts and audio-visual resources supporting classroom activities.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners with a good level of Italian, equivalent to around two years of study, including those who have completed Italian Stage 3 Unit 1. Participation involves conversations, group discussions, role-play and homework, with attendance described as important.

• Previous Italian study is required, either Italian Stage 3 Unit 1 or more than two years of study.
• Regular attendance and homework are described as important for making progress.

Before you go

• Bring a pen, paper and a bilingual dictionary, either paper or digital.
• Whether a textbook will be used is discussed during the first class.
