About this course

The course develops Italian for everyday communication through conversations, role-plays, listening tasks, reading comprehension and written work. Learners revise earlier topics while extending their grammar and vocabulary, including language for culture, society, holidays and other everyday subjects. Class activities include listening to videos with and without transcripts, identifying specific information, writing longer passages and emails, and discussing Italian regions, cultural events and popular destinations. Cultural material and occasional virtual travel provide contexts for practising language and exploring places in Italy.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners with an established foundation in Italian, at around Intermediate (B1) level. The provider specifies prior study equivalent to Italian Stage 3 Unit 2 or more than two years of Italian. Learners should be prepared to take part in varied class activities and complete work outside class.

• Prior Italian study or more than two years of learning is specified.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are expected.
• Independent study and completion of activities outside class are required.
