Intermediate Python

About this course

The course develops Python programming beyond introductory concepts, combining theoretical explanation with teacher demonstrations, practical coding and problem-solving activities. Participants explore sub-routines and modules to structure and reuse code, work with advanced lists, dictionaries and tuples, and use the Tkinter library to create graphical interfaces with buttons, text boxes and other controls. The course also considers the principles underlying programming languages and applies them to programs designed for Windows, Mac and Linux systems. No formal work is set outside class, although practising the techniques between sessions is suggested.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners who have already studied Python, either independently or on an introductory course. Participants should be able to use basic input and output, variables, conditional statements and loops. Lessons involve following spoken and written instructions, discussing work with the tutor, and taking part in practical programming and problem-solving activities.

• Some Python background or equivalent introductory study is required
• Learners should be comfortable reading and following instructions in English
