About this course
The course develops recorder technique and musical interpretation through simple ensemble repertoire for descant, treble, tenor and bass recorders. Teaching combines tutor demonstrations, listening, playing by ear, reading notation, and group and individual tuition. Participants work on coordination between fingers, tonguing and breathing, as well as phrasing and expression across different musical styles. Digital resources, including recordings, videos, mobile applications and Microsoft Teams, may be used to support music study inside and outside the classroom.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for recorder players with around a year’s experience. Participation combines ensemble playing with group and individual tuition, discussion in English, and study between classes. Learners are expected to complete short, regular practice sessions outside class.
- Short practice sessions are expected between classes.
- Learners need to follow and contribute to discussions in English.

- Bring your recorders, a pencil, an eraser and a notebook.
- Teaching materials are supplied by the tutor.
