About this course

Participants develop more refined salsa technique through complex turn patterns, multi-spin combinations, intricate hand-work and solo shines. Classes also include exercises addressing spinning technique, weight transfer and core strength. Leaders work on clearer, smoother signals, transitions between combinations and adding personal style. Followers focus on balance, posture, lightness, styling and responding accurately to complex signals without disrupting the connection or flow. The course moves beyond isolated moves towards more continuous dancing, musicality and intricate styling.

What you'll learn

  • Refine lead signals to make them clearer and smoother for a partner
  • Respond accurately to complex lead signals while maintaining connection and flow
  • Execute more complex turn patterns, multi-spin combinations and intricate hand-work
  • Develop solo shine footwork, spinning technique and weight transfer
  • Integrate styling, posture and musicality into salsa dancing

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for dancers with at least nine to twelve months of regular salsa class attendance, whether at the provider or elsewhere. Its faster pace assumes learners have moved beyond fundamental routines and can pick up combinations with confidence. Dancers with experience from another school may be assessed or offered a taster session to help confirm the appropriate level.

  • Suitable for both leaders and followers, with role-specific technical focuses
  • Readiness is advised by an instructor for learners progressing from another class or level
  • The course can be repeated as the combinations and variations develop

Before you go

  • Professional dance shoes are essential for spinning and joint protection.
  • There is no strict dress code, but breathable smart-casual clothing allowing a full range of movement is recommended.
