About this course

The course examines how contemporary auction houses operate across auctions, private sales and retail. Participants consider the historical development of the sector, the categories it handles, and the changing markets for areas including Contemporary, Impressionist and Modern, Old Masters and Luxury. Learning combines analysis of London auction houses, exploration of the secondary-market cycle and contributions from industry professionals. Topics include business development, deal making, marketing, selling and the range of roles within an auction house. A final mock auction allows participants to apply the knowledge and skills covered.
