About this course

Participants explore the tools, beads and findings used in beaded jewellery, then apply the techniques to projects including knotted bracelets or necklaces, earrings, patterned necklaces and a wire-and-bead corsage. The course also covers bead and wire construction, appropriate glue use and basic design considerations. Teaching combines demonstrations, project sheets, individual guidance and tutor-led group discussion. Topics include materials, tools, jewellery artists and sources of inspiration, with two to three techniques introduced in each session.

  • Apply stringing and knotting techniques to jewellery made with silk thread
  • Create bead-stringing patterns for a necklace design
  • Select and attach suitable findings for different jewellery designs
  • Use wire twisting techniques to construct a bead-and-wire corsage
  • Apply appropriate glue cleanly and effectively in beaded jewellery projects
