Introduction to Bookbinding 1: Pamphlets, Concertinas & Japanese Stab-bindings

A beginner workshop covering three foundational bookbinding structures through practical paper folding and book construction.
About this course
This workshop introduces three book structures: pamphlets, concertinas and Japanese stab-bindings. Participants learn to fold and manipulate paper, then use specialist bookbinding tools to construct each form. The session focuses on making a set of handcrafted books that can serve as gifts, sketchbooks, portfolio pieces or starting points for artists’ books. It also introduces methods that participants can continue using at home with minimal equipment. The workshop is the first in a three-part introductory series.
