About this course
The course introduces the purpose of accounting information, double-entry principles and the concepts used when preparing accounts. Topics include balance sheets, asset and liability categories, income statements, depreciation using straight-line and reducing-balance methods, profit and loss, and cost of goods sold. Learning includes accounting exercises focused on applying these concepts, preparing financial statements and performing related calculations. Work may also be completed outside class.
