About this course
The course introduces lithography through drawing and mark-making exercises, including collaborative work with pencils, crayons and ink. Participants transfer hand-drawn transparencies to photographic plates, develop the plates, then ink and print them onto paper. Teaching combines demonstrations, examples, handouts, practical exercises, individual guidance and group discussions. Work is completed both independently and collaboratively, with time to reflect on the resulting prints and working process.

The course welcomes learners at all levels and is particularly suited to those interested in drawing and mark-making. Participants will work independently as well as collaboratively in small groups, follow demonstrations and written or spoken instructions, and take part in group discussions.
- English-language competency is required to follow instructions, handouts and health and safety information
- Short written notes and self-reflection form part of the learning process

- Closed footwear must be worn; open-toed footwear is not permitted.
- Recommended personal protective equipment is provided for activities where it is required.
- The course uses a UV exposure unit and a press for plate exposure and printing.
