Introduction to diamonds

About this course

This introductory course examines how diamonds are mined, cut, graded, priced and certified, alongside the economics of the diamond industry and the countries involved in production. It also considers diamond simulants, common cuts and changes in cutting over the past century. Teaching combines talks, images, displayed samples and demonstrations, with opportunities for questions and group discussion. Participants are guided in using a loupe and applying criteria used when assessing diamonds.
