About this course

The course develops the four ESOL skills through a varied mix of individual work, pair and small-group activities, and one-to-one progress discussions with the tutor. Sessions may include listening exercises, role play, reading aloud, writing tasks, quizzes, word searches, games and digital learning activities. Writing work focuses on everyday topics, short messages and basic information, alongside reading simple texts and understanding basic spoken English. Learners also work towards personal targets through an individual learning plan.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners whose initial assessment places them at Beginner level. Participation includes individual, paired and small-group activities, tutor discussions, regular class attendance and independent study between sessions.

• An initial assessment determines the learner’s current English level.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are expected, with a stated minimum attendance level of 90%.
• Learners are expected to complete homework and practise independently between classes.
