Introduction to ESOL Entry 1 Beginners: Reading – Waterloo - 4th January 2027

About this course

The course develops the four core English skills across the term, with reading as the main focus for the relevant exam unit. Learners practise through audio work, reading aloud, writing tasks, quizzes, word searches, games and role play, using digital learning technologies alongside classroom activities. Work may be completed individually, in pairs or in small groups, with one-to-one discussions with the tutor about progress. Each learner follows an individual learning plan with personal targets. Passing a unit leads to a certificate for that unit.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners whose initial assessment places their English at Beginner level. Participation includes individual work, pair and small-group activities, and one-to-one discussions with the tutor. Learners should be prepared to practise regularly in class and continue with independent study and homework.
