About this course

Learners develop speaking, listening, reading and writing for everyday life and work, with particular attention to Entry 1 exam preparation. Activities include listening practice, role play, reading aloud, writing, quizzes, word searches and language games, completed individually, in pairs or in small groups. Computers, an interactive whiteboard and YouTube are used as learning tools, and each learner has an individual progress discussion with the tutor. Assessment may include Entry 1 Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing exams; learners who pass receive a certificate.

  • Improve the accurate spelling of words

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for beginner ESOL learners developing foundational English for daily life and work. There are no formal entry requirements, although learners should be able to use the Roman alphabet and attend consistently. The course includes pair, small-group and individual activities, plus an individual progress discussion with the tutor.

  • An interview is held before enrolment
  • A minimum attendance level of 90% is required
  • Learners should be prepared to attend every class and notify the teacher in advance if they cannot attend

  • Learners need an internet connection and a computer with a microphone and camera, or a tablet or smartphone
  • Earphones or headphones and speakers are required
