About this course

The course develops reading alongside listening, speaking and writing through individual tasks, pair work and group activities. Learners examine written texts to identify features that help establish meaning and consider the purpose of different texts. Classes also include study-skills development, use of internet-based resources and other technology, and preparation for ESOL Level 1 exams.

The course is intended for learners working at ESOL Level 1, described in the catalogue as Beginner (A1), who have passed Entry 3 or have a strong upper-intermediate understanding and use of English. Entry assessment and discussion with a teacher are required before enrolment. The course involves individual, pair and group work, with regular English practice and homework expected.
