About this course

The class develops writing alongside listening, speaking and reading, with practice tailored to understanding genre, purpose and audience. Learners work independently and with others, use internet-based technology, and build study skills relevant to their English development. Where relevant, activities also support preparation for exams. The course focuses on using language effectively for different audiences rather than on writing in isolation.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners working towards ESOL Level 2 who have passed Level 1 exams or use English at an upper-intermediate level. An assessment and discussion with a teacher take place before enrolment. Participation includes individual, pair and group work, with regular English practice and homework expected.

• Learners work individually, in pairs and in groups

• Bring lined A4 paper or a notebook, a pen, pencil, rubber and an A4 file
• A smartphone or tablet may be useful in class
• Regular English practice and completing homework are identified as important for good progress
