Introduction to Essential Digital Skills

About this course

The course introduces fundamental computer use, including hardware and software terminology, desktop navigation, mouse and keyboard control, file organisation, internet searching and basic email functions. Online safety and security are also covered. Sessions combine a short explanation of each topic with guided practice. Progress is reviewed through observation, informal questions and optional practice exercises. Individual assistance is available during sessions, and participants are encouraged to practise independently between classes.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for beginners who have some computer experience and intermediate English language skills. It involves guided practical work during each session, with attendance expected throughout the course. Learners may progress to an Essential Digital Skills qualification course afterwards.
