About this course

The course supports ESOL learners whose literacy skills are developing below their speaking level, with work across speaking, listening, reading and writing. Activities include listening to audio, reading aloud, role play, written tasks, quizzes, word searches and language games, using computers, YouTube and an interactive whiteboard where appropriate. Learners work individually and with others, alongside one-to-one discussions with the tutor about their progress. An individual learning plan sets personal targets. Progress is assessed through internally marked City & Guilds unit examinations at the end of each term.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for ESOL learners at Entry 1 or Entry 2 whose speaking and listening skills are assessed as emerging or consolidating. An initial assessment determines the appropriate level. Participation includes individual work, pair and small-group activities, one-to-one progress discussions and independent study.
