Introduction to L1 Essential Digital Skills

About this course

The course develops core digital skills across five areas: using devices and handling information, creating and editing documents or digital media, communicating online, completing transactions, and staying safe and responsible online. Participants cover tasks such as finding, evaluating and storing information, identifying technical problems, processing numerical data, managing online activity, using digital services, shopping securely, and protecting privacy and personal data. The course forms part of a qualification that is completed alongside Essential Digital Skills Level 1.

Is this course right for you?

Although labelled Beginner, the course is intended for learners who have already completed the Essential Digital Skills qualification at Entry Level or have equivalent experience. Learners without this background should arrange an assessment or attend an Exploring Digital Skills session before enrolling.

• Previous Entry Level digital skills study or equivalent experience is expected.
• Learners without the stated background can be assessed for the appropriate course.
• Completion of the wider qualification requires attendance on both this course and Essential Digital Skills Level 1.
