Introduction to Letterpress 2: Composition & Design for Print

A beginner-level letterpress workshop on typographic composition, multi-colour printing and developing a design into a small print edition.
About this course
Participants develop a considered letterpress composition using wood and metal type in different typefaces, sizes and weights. The workshop covers type scales, spacing, hand-typesetting conventions, paste-ups, typographic grids, paper selection, and combining type with image plates or decorative ornaments. Practical sessions explore two-colour printing, including impression, ink coverage and registration.
