About this course
Participants paint from a variety of life models, developing compositions through observation of bodily proportion, tone, colour and form. The course covers palette mixing, brush handling, skin-tone colour mixing and techniques for representing volume with light and shadow, using acrylic and oil paints. Teaching combines practical studio work, introductions to each session, tutor demonstrations, individual guidance, regular feedback and brief group discussion. Examples of artists who worked from life are used to examine different approaches to painting.
