About this course
Participants create clay studies from set poses, using sculptural anatomy, precise measurement and more intuitive modelling approaches to interpret the observed figure. The course introduces modelling tools and different clays, then covers hollowing, firing, glazing and other surface treatments. Teaching combines whole-class presentations, demonstrations and individual tuition. Learners receive feedback while developing their work, with progress discussed through Personal Learning Plans, written notes and tutor reviews. The course also considers traditional and contemporary sculptors as references for further development.
What you'll learn
