About this course
The course introduces the transparent qualities of watercolour through practical exercises in fluid washes, masking and layered colour. Learners will investigate how different hues and densities combine, and use varied brushwork and mark-making approaches to create texture and visual effects. Teaching combines tutor demonstrations, studio tasks, one-to-one guidance and group discussion. The course also refers to methods used by selected artists, helping learners recognise different approaches to watercolour practice.

Is this course right for you?
This is a beginner-level course intended for learners who are new to watercolour. Participation includes practical studio tasks, demonstrations, individual guidance and group discussion. Learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions, demonstrations, handouts and health and safety information.
