About this course
Across six interactive lectures, the course examines the impact of the English arrival, the Statutes of Kilkenny, Gaelic Ireland in the fifteenth century, and the rise and fall of the House of Kildare. It also considers politics, religion, education and sports before the Tudor period. Alongside key events, the course explores how relationships with Britain and continental Europe shaped differing cultural identities in Ireland and Britain.
