About this course

The course develops spoken Italian through discussion and interactive pair and group activities. Topics include Italian traditions, popular culture, geography, history, the arts, food, literature, cinema, sport and current affairs, providing opportunities to extend vocabulary and grammar. Lessons also address idiomatic expressions, verb-tense usage, pronunciation, intonation and spontaneous speaking. Grammar is revised and extended where appropriate. Speaking and writing assignments may be used to review progress informally, but there is no formal assessment.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners with Italian at a minimum of B1 on the CEFR. This places it beyond elementary study and is suited to participants ready to develop conversational fluency through active pair and group work. Learners should expect informal speaking and writing tasks rather than a formal examination.
