About this course
The course develops advanced spoken Italian through discussion of current affairs, culture, history, arts, sport, traditions, food, literature and cinema. Participants read and discuss articles, interpret an excerpt from a classic Italian novel, describe past events using varied tenses and formulate hypotheses with advanced verb forms, including the subjunctive. Teaching uses debates, presentations and structured dialogues to practise fluency, argumentation and grammatical accuracy. Learners also give a presentation on a topic of their choice and discuss their learning goals with the tutor, with progress observed through classroom activities and recorded in a Personal Learning Plan.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for advanced Italian learners and requires completion of Lower Advanced or equivalent, described as six years of previous study. Participants take part in debates, structured dialogues and presentations, so the course involves sustained spoken interaction and discussion of complex viewpoints.
- Lower Advanced or equivalent is given as the expected prior level.
- Regular participation in group discussions and spoken activities is part of the course.
