About this course

The course introduces Italian through everyday communication, with lessons primarily conducted in Italian. Learners practise listening, speaking, reading and writing through group work, role-plays and guided classroom activities. Topics include greetings, introductions, personal information, nationalities, occupations, addresses, email details and numbers used for prices, ages, telephone numbers and room numbers. Progress is based on classroom participation and self-study rather than formal tests.

• Ask and answer questions about origins, nationality and personal information.
• Provide personal details in situations such as hotel check-in.

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for complete beginners who have never studied Italian. Participation centres on spoken communication, with group activities and role-plays conducted largely in Italian. Learners with some existing basic knowledge may need a different level, and are advised to take a placement test or contact the language department.
