What Elementary (A2) Italian means

At A2 Italian, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

  • Describe your routine

Di solito vado al lavoro in autobus e torno a casa alle sei.

I usually go to work by bus and return home at six.

  • Make a simple plan

Vuoi andare al cinema sabato pomeriggio?

Would you like to go to the cinema on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

Ieri ho cenato con degli amici e poi abbiamo fatto una passeggiata.

Yesterday I had dinner with friends and then we went for a walk.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

Lessons are primarily conducted in Italian and develop listening, speaking, reading and writing through spoken communication, group work and role-play. Participants practise language for everyday contexts, including food and drink, restaurant bookings, describing homes and discussing daily activities. The course also covers plural forms and common regular and irregular verbs in the present tense. Progression is based on participation and self-study rather than formal tests, with lesson summaries, notes and additional study resources included.

What you'll learn

  • Express likes, dislikes and preferences about food and drink
  • Make a simple restaurant reservation by telephone
  • Describe rooms and furniture in a house or apartment
