About this course

The course develops spoken Italian through interactive group activities and role-plays, with lessons conducted in Italian to practise comprehension and listening. Alongside communication work, participants study grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation in a systematic way. Topics include past events and duration, abilities and personal experience, appearance and personality, comparisons, biographies, and polite disagreement in everyday situations. The course also covers relevant time expressions, superlatives, comparatives, selected infinitive structures and adverbs such as mai, sempre and non… ancora.

What you'll learn

• Discuss experiences of learning Italian and describe past events, including how long they lasted.
• Talk about abilities and experiences that have or have not happened.
• Describe people’s appearance and personality, and make regular and irregular comparisons.
• Understand and write a short biography.
• Express irritation and disagree politely in everyday situations.
• Use relevant past-time expressions, superlatives, comparatives, infinitive structures and vocabulary related to time, education and hobbies.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for pre-intermediate Italian learners at A2+ level who have previously completed Italian Level 8 or studied Italian for at least 96 class hours. Participation involves spoken communication, group work and role-plays, with the teacher speaking Italian throughout the lessons.
