Italian Wine Scholar - Unit 1 - Trentino-Alto Adige

About this course

This session explores how Trentino-Alto Adige’s history, geography and cultural influences shape its wine production. It introduces the region’s alpine terroirs and examines a range of styles through a curated tasting, including Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Lagrein, Schiava and Trentodoc sparkling wines. The session follows the Wine Scholar Guild’s Italian Wine Scholar Unit 1 curriculum and also provides an introduction to its wider wine-study courses.

• Describe key historical, geographical and cultural influences on Trentino-Alto Adige’s wines
• Distinguish between selected white, red and sparkling wine styles from the region
• Relate alpine terroirs to the characteristics of wines produced in Trentino-Alto Adige
