About this course

This session examines how the history, geography and culture of Valle d’Aosta and Liguria influence their wines, using the Wine Scholar Guild’s Italian Wine Scholar Unit 1 curriculum. Teaching covers the regions’ distinctive wine styles and native varieties, from fresh, structured Alpine whites and elegant reds to Ligurian Vermentino, Pigato and lesser-known red wines. A curated tasting provides the central practical element, allowing participants to explore differences between the two regions and the relationship between tradition, innovation and terroir. The session also serves as an introduction to the wider Wine Scholar Guild course programme.
