About this course
The session focuses on the wine regions of Calabria and Sicily, examining their landscapes, histories, indigenous grape varieties and developing winemaking traditions. It covers Calabria’s reds, including Gaglioppo from Cirò, alongside Sicily’s coastal whites and mineral-driven wines from Mount Etna. Teaching is centred on a guided tasting, using examples from both regions to explore differences in style and character. The session forms part of the Wine Scholar Guild’s Italian Wine Scholar Unit 2 curriculum and can introduce learners to its structured approach.
