About this course
The course extends Japanese grammar and functions beyond basic structures, covering ways to express readiness, make strong suggestions, describe simultaneous actions and modify noun clauses using the plain form. Learners also work with Kanji and compound words connected with everyday life, alongside Japanese culture and customs. Teaching focuses on spoken interaction and communication through pair and group work, role plays and games, supported by presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources. Homework is highly recommended to consolidate the classwork.

This course is intended for learners continuing from Japanese 3 lower: module 1 or those with around three years of Japanese study. The Intermediate (B1) label indicates study beyond fundamental structures. Participation involves spoken communication, pair and group activities, role plays and games.
- Fluency in Hiragana and Katakana is expected.
- Some basic knowledge of Kanji is expected.
