Japanese Beginners- Stage 2

About this course

This course extends Japanese reading and writing through authentic texts containing Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Participants develop vocabulary and grammar for discussing preferences, desires, hobbies and personal information, while also exploring Japanese culture, etiquette and customs. Teaching uses a communicative format combining role-play, listening tasks and structured practice. Pair and group activities provide practice in speaking, listening and basic pronunciation, with further work on grammar and Kanji for everyday communication.

Is this course right for you?

Although labelled Beginner (A1), this is a Stage 2 course for learners who have completed Beginners Stage 1 or have equivalent knowledge. Participants should be able to read Hiragana and Katakana, recognise some Kanji, and use connective and nai verb forms and adjective conjugations. Pair and group activities, active participation and regular attendance are central to the course.
