About this course

The course develops Japanese through topics including health, accommodation, customs, inventions, regrets, worries and mistakes. Learners practise explaining processes, discussing news and culture, and constructing longer sentences while studying grammar such as passive forms, reported speech, nominalisation, causes, purposes and continuing states. Lessons emphasise spoken communication through group work and role-plays, alongside systematic practice in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and listening. Teaching is conducted in Japanese, with materials including selected articles from News Web Easy. Course content follows Chapters 5 and 6 of Chukyu e Ikou, although teachers may use other resources.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for advanced Japanese learners, with the level label indicating study beyond fundamental and intermediate language work. Previous completion of Japanese Level 32 or at least 384 class hours is required. Participation includes spoken communication, group work, role-plays and discussion, with the teacher using Japanese throughout.
