At C1+ Japanese, learners can express complex ideas precisely, understand nuance and adapt their language to different contexts.

About this course

Lessons are taught primarily in Japanese and use group work, role-plays and practical communication tasks to develop fluency in everyday and topic-based conversations. Work on pronunciation includes recognising and producing key sounds, shaping sounds accurately, and refining rhythm, pace and intonation to express meaning naturally. The course also develops reading and cultural understanding through authentic materials, including NHK’s News Web Easy articles on current affairs, culture, environmental issues and entertainment.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners who have already studied Japanese for a substantial period and want to progress towards a more advanced level. Previous study of Japanese Level 38 or around 256 class hours is recommended. Classes involve interactive group activities and role-plays, with lessons conducted mainly in Japanese.
