About this course
The class develops jazz technique through centre warm-ups, repeated exercises and travelling sequences drawing on jazz, classical ballet, contemporary, Pilates and named jazz techniques including Mattox and Fosse. Participants learn a choreographed dance piece and work across different jazz musical styles and tempi. Teaching focuses on coordinating movement, rhythm, memory, fluidity, style and presentation, with regular tutor feedback. Digital resources such as film and photography may also be used to support study. Learners set personal targets linked to the course outcomes and possible progression to advanced-level study.
