About this course

Beginners work through a series of practical projects, making three or four pieces while progressing from base metals to silver. The course introduces commonly used jewellery tools, materials and processes, alongside health and safety guidance. Learners with more experience develop their own designs, supported by technical projects where appropriate and individual advice from the tutor. Teaching combines demonstrations, presentations, group discussions, research and one-to-one guidance. Participants work at their own pace, agreeing individual learning goals with the tutor and recording their development in a learning statement.

What you'll learn

  • Apply newly introduced jewellery-making techniques through technical projects
  • Select suitable tools, materials and processes for a jewellery-making task
  • Use metals and other materials to produce finished jewellery pieces
  • Apply relevant health and safety procedures when working in the studio
