About this course
The course introduces core jewellery techniques through bench practice, including piercing, filing, annealing, forming, soldering, texturing, polishing and finishing. Learners also explore basic stone setting, chain making and findings while producing test pieces and samples. Design development is a central theme. Learners use visual research and sketchbooks to document investigations, technical notes and developing ideas, building a portfolio alongside their practical work. The programme includes regular homework and research assignments, interim and final assessments, and an individual piece developed during the final stage.

Before you go
- Workshop tools and equipment are available for use.
- Copper sheet and wire for learning the basic skills are provided.
- Learners must later purchase their own metal and some sundries; the tutor will advise on requirements and sources.
- Closed shoes must be worn during workshop sessions.
- At least 90% attendance is required to complete the course.
