Jewellery - intermediate

An intermediate jewellery-making course combining tutor demonstrations, independent project work and guidance in developing metalworking techniques and designs.
About this course
The course develops existing metalworking skills through a new technical theme each term. Participants respond to a set brief and pursue personal projects, using demonstrations, experimentation, group discussion, visual handouts and individual guidance to develop their work. Depending on the theme, activities may include wax carving, sand casting, etching, chain making, metal forming, forging, box or locket construction and stone setting. Learners produce samples and test pieces alongside finished jewellery, while discussing design decisions, material choices and working methods. Progress is reviewed through tutor discussions, group feedback and self-reflection recorded in a sketchbook or Individual Learning Plan.
