About this course

This studio-based workshop explores how gold foil can be applied to prepared silver to create contrasting decorative surfaces. Participants will prepare metal through depletion gilding, cut gold foil, apply it using heat and pressure, and investigate texture using a rolling mill. The course also covers soldering findings, finishing processes, and the possibilities and limitations of Keum Boo. Teaching combines demonstrations for the group with individual demonstrations and guidance. Health and safety, technical vocabulary and note-taking are included alongside the practical jewellery work.
