About this course

The course adapts jewellery-making practice to different experience levels. Beginners work with sheet metal and wire, learning techniques including piercing, filing, drilling, polishing, annealing, texturing and soldering before designing and making a piece. Intermediate learners develop individual designs with tutor guidance, while advanced learners work from sketchbooks towards finished pieces using more demanding processes such as stone setting, wax carving, enamelling and chain making. Teaching combines demonstrations, handouts, practical activities, group discussions and individual tuition. Learners receive advice and demonstrations from the tutor as needed, with goals and project development discussed according to their level.
