Jewellery: Sculptural Electroformed Jewellery

About this course

Participants develop sculptural jewellery components by carving, pouring and constructing wax, then use alginate and silicone to make moulds. The course also introduces jesmonite casting and electroforming, including preparation of a wax model and removal of wax from the electroformed object. Teaching combines demonstrations, discussion and studio-based making. Learners explore hot and cold connections, consider technical and design constraints, and combine finished components into a jewellery piece or further material samples.

What you'll learn

The all-levels format involves developing an individual theme while working responsibly in a shared studio space. Some equipment or machinery requires a moderate level of fitness.

Before you go

• Bring an apron, notebook and pen.
• Bring a hair tie if you have long hair.
• The studio is on the third floor, with lift access.
• A moderate level of fitness is needed to use some jewellery equipment or machinery.
• Health and safety instructions must be followed when working in the shared space.
• Precious metals are not included in the course fee.
