Jewellery Workshop – Intermediate

About this course

Participants develop individual jewellery projects and design ideas at their own pace, with technical and design guidance available from the tutor. The workshop covers techniques including enamelling, rolling mill texturing, casting and stone setting. Teaching takes place through practical workshop activity and verbal feedback on progress, with written handouts also available to support information covered in class. There are no formal assessments.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners with existing jewellery design and making skills and is not suitable for beginners. Participants work on individually chosen projects with guidance available as needed. Basic literacy is advisable for using written handouts, while basic numeracy supports measurements and calculations.

Before you go

• Base metals such as copper and brass can be purchased from the college.
• Learners need to purchase silver from specialist jewellery suppliers; the tutor can recommend suppliers.
• Some tools can be borrowed, but learners are advised to build their own tool collection.
• Bring a notebook, pencil and apron.
• Non-slip, closed footwear is strongly recommended in the pottery area.
• Allow 15 minutes at the end of the class for tidying up.
