Topics include historical imitations, modern synthetic gemstones, lab-grown diamonds, gemstone treatments and indicators of alteration or forgery in antique jewellery. Teaching combines lectures with practical sessions and field visits. Participants handle authentic gemstones, practise using basic authentication tools and consider how evidence can inform valuations in the luxury market.
